AZ900 - Azure Fundamentals - Exam Structure
Azure is Microsoft’s cloud computing platform with a wide range of services that can be used to help meet your needs. This could be anything from cloud storage, database hosting to more complex services based around Artificial Intelligence (AI) or the Internet of Things (IoT)
The AZ 900 Azure Fundamentals course and exam focuses on providing an overview of these service. AZ900 is designed to give a brief introduction to a wide range of services that you may or may not use day to day.
No matter what your end goal for learning Azure service is, AZ900 is the ideal first step into the Azure environment to help you gain a broad understanding of the available services.
The exam is broken down to 3 sections.

Describe Azure Architecture and Services
Describe Azure Management and Governance
Describe Cloud Concepts (25-30%)
25-30% of questions on the exam will be on the subjects covered within this section.
Describe Cloud Concepts
Describe the benefits of using cloud services
Describe cloud service types
The subsections will cover the different types of cloud service offered by Microsoft and who is responsible for maintaining the security and patching of the service, what benefits the cloud offers and the types of cloud service model that can be used to fulfil.
Describe Azure Architecture and Services (35-40%)
This subsection of the course covers off the various services offered by Microsoft, specifically concentrating on computing, networking, and security services. It will also cover some of the management and logical features of Azure used to help with management of your resources.
Describe the core architectural components of Azure
Describe Azure compute and networking services
Describe Azure storage services
Describe Azure identity, access, and security
35-40% of the exam questions will be on these topics.
Describe Azure Management and Governance (30-35%)
The final section focuses on the management tools within Azure, to ensure that your resources are compliant with your company’s policies, and that you stay within your budgets. This last section accounts for 30-35% of the questions on the exam.

Exam Format
The exam is scored out of 1000, with a required score of 700 or more to pass. The exam will be a mix of question types including multiple-choice, and drag and drop style questions. The exam will last about 60minutes and have 40-60 questions.
Microsoft does offer a free practice assessment on their MS Learn site for AZ 900, this could be used to get a feel for the types of questions to expect on the exam.
