David Dilday: Ameer, it’s a pleasure to have you here. Let’s start with your role at Microsoft. Can you tell us a bit about what you do and what you enjoy most about it?

Ameer Jassim: As a Senior Cloud Solution Architect specializing in Identity and Access Management at Microsoft, I support mission-critical projects and help clients implement robust identity solutions. What I enjoy most about my role is the opportunity to solve complex problems and make a tangible impact on our clients' security posture. Collaborating with talented colleagues and continuously learning about the latest advancements in cloud technology keeps me motivated and excited about my work.


David Dilday: That sounds fascinating! How does your experience at Microsoft shape the way you approach teaching technical courses, like SC-300?

Ameer Jassim: My experience at Microsoft has provided me with a deep understanding of identity and access management, which I bring into my teaching. I focus on practical, real-world scenarios that students are likely to encounter, ensuring they gain hands-on experience. Additionally, I emphasize the importance of staying updated with industry standards and best practices, which is something I practice in my role at Microsoft.


David Dilday: The SC-300 course is one of Refactored’s new course curriculum for 2025. What do you think makes this certification so important in today’s tech landscape?

Ameer Jassim: The SC-300 certification is crucial because it equips professionals with the skills needed to manage identity and access in a cloud-centric world. With the increasing importance of security and compliance, having a certification that validates one's expertise in these areas is invaluable. It ensures that professionals can implement and manage identity solutions effectively, which is essential for protecting organizational assets.


David Dilday: What inspired you to start teaching and creating technical training content?

Ameer Jassim: My inspiration for teaching and creating technical training content comes from a desire to share knowledge and help others succeed. Throughout my career, I've benefited from the guidance and mentorship of others, and I want to pay it forward. Teaching allows me to connect with a broader audience and contribute to their professional growth.


David Dilday: It’s clear you’re deeply committed to giving back. How do you balance your demanding role at Microsoft with your teaching and community involvement?

Ameer Jassim: Balancing my role at Microsoft with teaching and community involvement requires careful time management and prioritization. I make sure to allocate dedicated time for each activity and leverage tools and resources to stay organized. Additionally, I find that my work at Microsoft and my teaching efforts complement each other, as they both involve continuous learning and sharing knowledge.


David Dilday: What advice would you give to someone just starting out in identity and access management or considering taking SC-300?

Ameer Jassim: For those starting out in identity and access management or considering the SC-300 certification, my advice is to focus on building a strong foundation in the basics of identity management. Take advantage of available resources, such as my Refactored SC-300 course, Microsoft Learn, LinkedIn Learning, and hands-on labs. Additionally, seek mentorship and engage with the community to stay updated on the latest trends and best practices.


David Dilday: What courses are you working on now? What can students look forward to seeing from you next?

Ameer Jassim: I'm currently working on the Refactored AI-900 course, which is all about Azure AI Fundamentals. This course is designed for anyone who wants to get started with artificial intelligence, even if they have no prior experience. I’m focusing on creating clear and easy-to-follow content that breaks down complex AI concepts into manageable pieces. Students can look forward to practical explanations, hands-on examples, and insights into how Azure AI services can solve real-world problems. My goal is to make learning AI not just accessible but also enjoyable and empowering, so everyone feels confident stepping into the world of AI!


David Dilday: Lastly, Ameer, what excites you most about the future of technology and the role you play in shaping it?

Ameer Jassim: What excites me most about the future of technology is the potential for AI and machine learning to revolutionize how we approach security and identity management. The advancements in these areas are enabling more intelligent and proactive security measures, which can significantly enhance organizational resilience.
